3Days|2Nights
20 May 11:00 - 18:00
Photographer and activist Joanna Vestey is embarking on a new photography and sound project documenting the last temperate rainforests of Great Britain, which face severe environmental threat and need urgent conservation. Titled 3 Days|2 Nights, Vestey’s ongoing series will see her capture rare rainforests across the length of the UK’s West coast and begins with an exhibition at Fitzrovia Chapel. The meditative body of work invites viewers to immerse themselves in a sublime realm, Fitzrovia Chapel will display nine large-scale photographs while an immersive sound installation echoes the sounds of the forest, created in collaboration with Lisa Bec and Cee Haines. The exhibition invites viewers to lose themselves in the wayward entanglements of Britain’s few remaining rainforests, which will also see Vestey work alongside researchers to measure the effects on visitors through mood and wellbeing surveys. The research will run alongside a varied public programme – information will be available onwww.joannavestey.com.
