A Strange Christmas Game
20 December 2019 13:00 - 13:30
‘Altogether, Martingdale seemed dreary enough, and the ghost stories we had laughed at while sunshine flooded the room, became less unreal, when we had nothing but blazing fires and wax candles to dispel the gloom.’
Often publishing under male pseudonyms, the author Charlotte Riddell was a prolific writer in Victorian England. A Strange Christmas Game is a ghost story for Christmas, that perfect thing we are always striving for at the festive season but rarely find. The chapel’s resident speaker, Kate Thorogood, will present the piece and introduce the author.
Wireless Contemplation is a series of monthly audio events at the chapel. They are free, informal and the chance to listen to work by an influential cultural figure connected to Fitzrovia. You can also visit the chapel during our Wednesday open days as well as during our regular exhibitions.
