Summer Children’s Workshops

KIDS (3+) SUMMER ART WORKSHOP SERIES AT THE FITZROVIA CHAPEL

Taking inspiration from the chapel’s sublime interiors and rich history, especially the stunning stained glass windows and mosaic ceilings, we will create unique artworks that explore a range of different artistic processes and techniques.

TIMETABLE

WEEK 1 – Tuesday 25th July at 10am and 11.30am:

Make celestial sculptures with wire and beads inspired by the star-studded ceiling mosaic in the chapel.

WEEK 2 – Tuesday 1st August at 10am and 11.30am:

Watch how the light catches the colours of the chapel’s stained glass windows and then design and paint your own glass artwork.

WEEK 3 – Tuesday 15th August at 10am and 11.30am:

Explore the history of the chapel as part of the now demolished Middlesex Hospital and fly the flag for the NHS as it celebrates its 75th birthday, with a textile banner workshop workshop designed to spread joy and promote positive wellbeing.

WEEK 4 – Tuesday 22nd August at 10am and 11.30am:

Explore abstract paintings with wax resist and watercolour, using the leading and coloured glass of the windows as our starting point.
